Columbus Eagles FC is excited to designate the club’s June 16 match against Empire United as “Save The Crew” night, in honor of the dedicated soccer community working to keep our beloved Columbus Crew SC in Columbus.
Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. on June 16 at Otterbein University’s Memorial Stadium (135 Center St., Westerville, Ohio 43081). Parking is free and tailgating is permitted in the main stadium lot. Gates will open to the public at 3:15 p.m.
Tickets for the match are available now for $10 per person and will be the same price at the gate. The Eagles have been working with the organizers of the Save The Crew movement to promote the match, and STC will have an informational tent at the event to promote the cause. The Crew do not play that weekend – they host Atlanta United at MAPFRE Stadium on June 13 and play at LAFC on June 23.
The Eagles have been proud business allies of the #SaveTheCrew movement since it started in October 2017. The club voiced its support online and helped run a co-branded youth soccer skills clinic at Resolute Soccer Complex in December.
The club stands by the movement – which has shown the strength of the Columbus soccer community – and will continue to support it however it can going forward. Also, Eagles captain Amber Kern and midfielder Kelly DeNiro joined Aces Radio in April to talk about the movement and their connection to Crew SC.
The Eagles sit atop the Valley division of the WPSL – tied on points with Cleveland – after four matches. The match against Empire United (of Rochester, New York) will be the first-ever meeting between the clubs.
More promotional details about Save The Crew night will be unveiled in the coming weeks before the match. The club is very excited to welcome Crew fans of all ages to enjoy soccerÂÂ
