After the club trained at Capital University on Thursday night, Eagles’ forward Rachel MacLeod talked with club reporter Tayla Davis about the club’s upcoming match. Columbus travels north on Sunday evening to play Cleveland Ambassadors in a big WPSL match in the Valley division. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Kenston High School, just outside of Cleveland.
Both teams are unbeaten in the league, and the Eagles sit atop the division with six points from two matches.
“They’re a good team, we know that,” MacLeod said about Cleveland. “But we’re going to go about it like it’s another day at the office.”
Cleveland and Columbus played two friendlies against each other in 2017. In early May, Kelly DeNiro’s goal and Shauni Kerkhoff’s penalty save helped Columbus earn a 1-1 draw. In early July in the away fixture, Cleveland beat Columbus 3-0. The Ambassadors finished second in the WPSL’s Great Lakes division in 2017, and Columbus finished third in the Valley division.
