Eagles Host Successful Indoor Charity Match to Benefit Moms2B

The spirit of the holidays was in the air at Resolute Athletic Complex when Columbus Eagles FC played the All-Stars of the Columbus Adult Soccer League (CASL). Saturday’s friendly match was an all-around success: The teams on the field competed well, supporters cheered goals, and the kids in attendance spent halftime taking penalties against the Eagles’ mascot.

Most importantly, though, on the charitable night, Eagles fans overflowed the donation box. Supporters brought baby diaper wipes and other items so the club could give them to Moms2B, the newest partner of Columbus Eagles FC. Moms2B is a Columbus-based organization trying to lower the infant mortality rate in central Ohio and in Franklin County. 

Resolute Athletic Complex, an Eagles’ partner since the club’s inception in 2014, was a great host for the event, which allowed both teams to showcase their skills in front of a great crowd. 

After the match ended, young Eagles fans met players for pictures and autographs to put a bow on a wonderful holiday evening.

On the field, Rachel MacLeod was voted “Woman of the Match” for her four-goal performance in a big Eagles win. Madison Burchfield also netted four, Peyton Miller and Jennifer Markley notched braces, and Alexa Cheripko scored to chip in to the cause. 

The Eagles are back in action Saturday (Dec. 30) when they host Cincinnati Sirens FC at Resolute Athletic Complex. Tickets are $5 and are available online. The club is also hosting a youth skills clinic at 5 p.m. the same night – tickets to the clinic are $10 and include entrance into the Eagles’ match with Cincinnati the same night.
