Columbus, OH – Columbus Eagles FC is thrilled to announce the appointment of Tony Daniels as the new head coach for the upcoming 2025 Women’s Premier Soccer League (WPSL) season. With an extensive coaching background spanning over three decades, Tony Daniels brings a wealth of experience, a commitment to player development, and a track record of success at both the collegiate and club levels.
Tony Daniels is currently the Head Women’s Soccer Coach at Ohio Dominican University, where he has led the program from 2023 to the present. Prior to that, he was at the helm of the University of Rio Grande’s women’s soccer program from 2016 to 2023, guiding the team to multiple River States Conference Championship appearances and producing numerous scholar-athletes. During his tenure, the program saw remarkable academic achievements, including an overall team GPA of 3.5, as well as multiple All-Conference and All-American honors.
Additionally, Tony Daniels was a long-time assistant coach for the University of Rio Grande’s men’s program from 1991 to 2016, contributing to two NAIA National Championships (2003, 2015) and multiple deep tournament runs. His ability to recruit and develop high-caliber talent, both domestically and internationally, has been a hallmark of his coaching career.
“We are incredibly excited to welcome Tony Daniels to the Columbus Eagles FC family,” said Mark Wise, Owner/CEO of Columbus Eagles FC. “His dedication to the game, experience in building competitive programs, and commitment to fostering a positive and professional team culture align perfectly with our club’s vision. We believe he is the right leader to guide our team to new heights in the WPSL.”
Beyond his college coaching accolades, Tony Daniels has also been a coach for Ohio South ODP since 2018, where he has helped develop elite youth players, some of whom have gone on to represent national and professional teams. His deep ties to the soccer community in Ohio, as well as his passion for the game, make him a perfect fit for Columbus Eagles FC.
“I am honored to join Columbus Eagles FC and excited to lead this talented group of players into the new season,” said coach Daniels. “This club has a strong foundation, passionate supporters, and a commitment to excellence on and off the field. I look forward to building a competitive squad that represents Columbus with pride.”
