Columbus, February 7, 2020 For immediate release
Final Third Foundation (F3) is partnering with Columbus’s Women’s Soccer Team, The Columbus Eagles FC, to support girls and women locally and internationally through soccer.
The campaign, “Supporting Women Globally”, will support the Likoni Community Football League, an F3 Project based in Likoni, Mombasa, Kenya, and provide soccer programming directed toward young girls locally, in Columbus, OH.
The Likoni Community Football League (LCFL), founded in 2011 by F3™’s Executive Director, Benjamin Levey, is a sports and development organization that provides a youth soccer and women’s soccer league in one of the poorest areas of Mombasa, Kenya.
The Eagles plan to help collect equipment for the organization and assist with fundraising efforts in 2020. The equipment and dollars raised will go directly to support the LCFL™’s Women™’s teams and league.
Last year, about 400 children and 160 girls and young women participate in LCFL programs. F3, which also oversees Columbus East FC, a youth soccer club, will also work with the Eagles to hold girls-specific soccer clinics and camps. Camps and clinics will be run by Columbus East FC coaching staff and Eagles players.
The goals for both organizations are to excite more girls locally about the game of soccer and establish a group of young women and role models for girls to look up to and support.
“We are very excited about strengthening our relationship with the Eagles. Over the past two years, Columbus Eagles have supported an F3 event, Columbus Nations Cup. After meeting with Columbus Eagles CEO & Owner, Mark Wise, I felt like this partnership would be another step in the right direction for both organizations. Not only are we working together locally to support girls that play for Columbus Eagles affiliated organizations, but we are also supporting one of our projects internationally, says Benjamin Levey, Executive Director of F3.
Quote from Mark Wise, Owner and CEO of the Columbus Eagles
“The Columbus Eagles FC is all about supporting and encouraging the growth of women’s soccer here in Columbus and growing the women’s game all over the world.”
“In partnering with the Final Third Foundation, we can meet both of these objectives through cooperative events and activities with the F3.”
“We are excited about the possibilities that working together creates. We will do our part to “Support Women Globally” through the game of soccer whenever and wherever we can. I look forward to working with Benjamin to help make a difference, here in Columbus and throughout the world.”
