As a part of Columbus Eagles FC’s community-centered mission, the club is announcing a program to provide resources to local youth soccer clubs and teams. The Youth Affiliate Program is open to any group who wants to join, regardless of size or location.
The purpose of the program is for CEFC to support and provide resources for local youth teams, and to connect them to the Columbus Eagles. Additionally, the Eagles hope to empower local girls and boys to grow as young people and as talented soccer players.
Perks of being an affiliate team or club include access to an Eagles-organized camp in summer 2020 (dates, times, and location will be announced later), discounted soccer gear through our partnership with Errea apparel, and Eagles ticket and merchandise discounts for all members of your group.
The Eagles will also offer select mentorship opportunities for local girls and boys who want to learn from Eagles players about preparing to play college soccer, among other topics.
“As players, we love seeing all the youth teams come to our games and become a part of our Eagles family,” said Eagles midfielder Kelly DeNiro, who’s leading the project. “They remind us why we play and why we want to continue growing this sport. Our youth affiliate program will give us the opportunity to support young soccer players more than we ever have been able to before, and we’re really excited to get it started.”
Affiliates will also have the opportunity to walk out of the tunnel with Eagles starters and be the ball-retrieving crew on the sidelines during home matches in 2020. The program is being led by DeNiro and club CEO Mark Wise.
How to become an Eagles-affiliate group
There will be a small fee associated with becoming an affiliate (based on the size of your group). Affiliates will also be asked to help the Eagles promote Eagles season memberships and home WPSL matches within their groups.
