Eagles midfielder Ashley Gogolin was named a WPSL “Player of the Week,” the league office announced Saturday night. It’s Gogolin’s first award and comes after the club’s 2-1 win over Steel City FC on July 8 in Pittsburgh.
The Wright State University alumna was a force against Pittsburgh, as she’s been all season, controlling play with skillful and physical play. Gogolin started the move that led to the Eagles’ first goal against Steel City, and was superb throughout the match. She joined Indy Saints FC’s Annalie Leitner as the Valley division’s representatives in the WPSL “Team of the Week.”
Gogolin finishes her first WPSL season with one goal and two assists (a team-high) in eight appearances for the club. She started every match of the 2018 season for Columbus.
