Before Columbus beat Cincinnati in an indoor friendly on Dec. 30, Columbus Eagles FC hosted a vibrant youth skills clinic for the next soccer stars in Columbus.
More than 30 girls and boys participated in the camp, which was run by Eagles players Monique Hanayik, Kate Prewitt, Alexa Cheripko, and Summer Bourcier. The kids participated in warm-ups and stretching, passing drills, and one-on-one games. Shooting practice was especially competitive and fun.
The campers then broke off into teams to play scrimmages all over the indoor field at Resolute Athletic Complex (a key sponsor of the Eagles since the club’s inception in 2014).
Many who participated – ranging from 7 to 15 years of age – stayed to watch Columbus play Cincinnati after the clinic. A small match broke out on Resolute’s second field at halftime of the Eagles game. There, fans could watch the next wave of Columbus soccer stars play each other for fun. Laughter rang around the building.
